April 18, 2006, St. Louis -
Following news of the death of Johnnie Johnson, an official statement
from Blue Dixie was released today by band member and pianoman Larry Lund. "The
group is truly saddened by the loss of a man who did so much to create
the sound of what we today know as 'Rock and Roll'," said Mr. Lund. "He
inspired musicians who are our inspirations, and we are privileged to
live in a city with such a rich cultural legacy. Johnnie did what
piano players do - he planted the seeds of a new sound, and let the guitar
players take it to the spotlight." |
| April 13, 2006, St.
Louis - The Blue Dixie family was saddened to learn of the death today of
local composer and pianist Johnnie Johnson. Johnnie discovered Chuck Berry
in 1952, and the two of them helped create the new sound that was to become
rock music. Johnnie was an inspiration to many of the band members,
several who had the opportunity to play with him in recent years, and Blue
Dixie often played "Johnny B. Goode" as a tribute to the musical
legend. The band will be issuing an official statement concerning
his death within the next few days. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |

April 1, 2042, Los Angeles -
Following the success of Blue Dixie's recent reunion show, Columbia Records
and Atlantic Records have announced the signing of the Midwestern rock
band to a sixteen-album deal, reportedly worth some $420 million dollars.
A representative from Columbia said that while two major
record labels jointly signing one band at the same time is rather unusual,
the potential for such huge sales meant that this was a contract no single
record label could handle alone.
Blue Dixie also announced plans for a 37-city world tour
kicking off tomorrow, with opening acts varying from Minnesota-born folk
singer Robert Zimmerman to Seattle favorites Mother Love Bone.
Because of the advanced age of the musicians in Blue Dixie,
they plan to hire interns to pre-trash the band's hotel rooms, thus avoiding
any potential injuries to the musicians themselves, and most of the actual
instrument playing will be accomplished with the help of a state-of-the-art
HPS (holographic projection system) as well as the generous use of body
doubles. The tour
will begin once the band finishes their intense rehearsal sessions at
the famed Platinum Club in East St. Louis. |
